Shandong CDC

Shandong CDC, abbreviated for Shandong Provincial Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, is a new research collaborator with COMDIS. The collaboration started in 2009 when there was an A/H1N1 outbreak in China.

Shanghai serves as the base of the COMDIS China research group. Shanghai is the largest and richest city of China, however it has witnessed a steady increase of migrant TB patients, and thus COMDIS studies have focussed on this vulnerable population group.

Guangxi Provincial CDC

Guangxi is located in the South-west of China, with 40% of the population belonging to the Zhuang ethnic-group. Guangxi CDC was the first Chinese collaborator with Nuffield on TB control. Prof. John Walley has been awarded with the Golden Embroidery Ball by Guangxi Foreign Expert Bureau for his outstanding contribution to Guangxi public health.
